Sound Steps shares its knowledge and experience working with babies and young children with hearing loss and their families with the next generation of professionals, so that children with hearing loss across India may grow up to enjoy a future that knows no boundaries.

Mrs. Shefali Shah is happy to mentor those therapists who are eligible and seek to pursue LSLS Certification. These therapists must demonstrate their dedicated interest in learning about and attaining proficiency in Auditory-Verbal Therapy.

The apex body for training professionals in the field of Hearing Sciences in India is The Ali Yavar Jung Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan) (AYJNISHD(D)). Sound Steps has been invited in the academic year 2016-17, by The Ali Yavar Jung Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan), to teach a lecture-series on Early Intervention and Auditory-Verbal Therapy to its Bachelor of Education students who have chosen to specialise in Children with Hearing Loss (B.Ed(HI)).

The Ministry of Disabilities (Maharashtra), has initiated training of all special educators in the state of Maharashtra, in recognition of the importance of early intervention. Sound Steps has been a resource in this initiative in Early Intervention, working collaboratively with the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for Speech and Hearing Disabilities (AYJNISHD(D)) and the National Convention for Educators of the Deaf (NCED). The state of Maharashtra has been divided into 10 divisions, with the course being offered in all 10 divisions, to make it accessible to educators across the state. Sound Steps has prepared training material as well as participated in the training of these professionals. This professional training is recognised by The Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

३/४/२०१७ ते ७/४/२०१७च्या CRE विषयी अभिप्राय कर्ण बधिर मुलांना मुख्य प्रवाहात आणताना भाषाविकासाची सुरुवातीची महत्वाची वर्ष का वाया जाऊ नयेत हे मला अगदी स्पष्ट कळलं. CRE साठी निवडलेले विषय व त्यांचे सादकिरण प्रभाविपणे झाले. आवश्यक तेथे सहभागी प्रशिक्षणार्थ्यांशी चर्चा, त्यांच्या शंकाचे समाधान, किंवा ग्रुप एक्टिविटी करून घेणे आवडले.

The CRE course on Early Intervention clearly presented why the first year in the life of children with hearing loss is critical. The topics for this course were well chosen and presented. Group discussion was encouraged and concerns adequately addressed. I enjoyed the role-playing activities we did!
